So, as you can see from the photos below, I was extremely busy with baking birthday cakes and made these 4 cakes(actually there was 5) in less then one months time.

The first one (well 2) were Tangled themed for Lillie's 5th birthday party! I love how it came out and was thrilled with my skills considering I've never done one this detailed. :) Look the tower is pecan rolls and ice cream cone with vines and flowers attached made from buttercream icing.

This was Lillie's party table, we had cake(s), ice cream, punch and iced tea. She was so thrilled with this party! She still talks about how much she loved it. :) That just makes everything worth it!

A friend invited us over for her (NON) Birthday party and BBQ on the 4th of July and asked if I could make her a birthday cake. So of course I said sure will... I already knew that I was going to be making a purse cake, although I had no idea how to do it. LOL. But I managed to plan it all out and made her both of these COACH purse cakes. They both turned out so cute!! I loved doing this as it was so much fun to do something new from the typical circle cakes that I've always made...

This one is a square one, a little more detail although you can't really see the zipper work. :)

Then when we got back from our week long trip to Florida, I made this one for our step-sisters grandson, Alex. He loves the Army and wanted a similar cake for his. You can't tell how big this cake really is, it's a full sheet cake, which is half white cake and half chocolate with buttercream icing. And yes, Alex really LOVED this cake! LOL.

Then I made this homemade German Chocolate Cake for my FIL (father-in-law's) 75th Birthday on July 30th.

I really love baking this cake, but I hate that it takes so long to do it and then it's all gone in a flash! LOL. I guess that just means it yummy, huh?

So as you can see from the end of June and through July I was quite the cake baker here in Azle! LOL.

I'll be sharing some more photos next time, maybe some from our family vacation to Santa Rosa Beach, FL!!! :)

Now I need to get busy and start scrapping these photos. :)

Wow, was I ever MIA....

Hello Everyone,I was MIA and I had no idea that it's been 4 months since I last posted! All I can say is that I've been really busy with lots of different things going on this summer! Can you believe that it's almost Back to School time?! Lillie is starting Kindergarden in 18 days!!! So let's see if I can bring you all up to date on what I've been doing this summer...

April
In April, we started out kinda tyipcal, although warmer weather was much appreciated after the deep freeze of a winter we had. So by middle of April there was all kinds of things going on. We took Lillie back to the Ft Worth Zoo and had a blast taking pics of the animials and talking about them with her. She really loved the Zoo. The weather become quite stormy, and had lots of severe weather days coming at us. On Easter we went to the family Easter Gathering and Lillie got to ride a pony and hunt eggs. She didn't want to do anything but ride the pony, LOL. My 37th birthday was on the 26th, Bobby & Lillie had bought me a new windchime and some beautiful fresh flowers...

May
In May, the weather has really started to heat up compared to last year. We had more severe weather, and hearing about a lot of severe weather through out the USA and the whole world. Tornados ripping through towns and killing lots of people in it's path. Flooding and more rain coming to areas that don't need anymore. While many others would pray that they could get some rain soon. Lillie got to roast Marshmellows for the first time in our "new" fire pit that was given to us. I can see us getting a lot of use from this in the cooler weather months. We've been working a lot on our yard trying to play catch up before the weather gets too hot and we can't do it. Lillie had her 1st dance class recital this month and did an awesome job with it! We're so proud of her!! And I've been doing research on my camera settings and wedding photography for taking David & Rhonda's wedding photos for them. They're getting married in June! I've transplanted some of my daylily volunteers up closer to the house and hopes that they'll bloom this year. I have been babying my lone bell pepper seedlings that were sole survivors of the spring heat and storms. I also tried to plant some Johnny Jump-ups from seed in my hanging baskets, but think it's just too hot for them to make it. I guess we'll see...

June
WOW, holy cow is it hot!!!! We've had some 100+ days already and an outdoor wedding which was 99 that day. I love how things went for our friend's wedding and lots of fun too. Although it's really hot, we managed to take our friends from Scotland, Canada and Minnesota downtown to the Ft Worth Stockyards. We walked around in 100 degree heat but still had fun and went out to lunch with our friends before they had to go back home. It's been great to meet and make new friends!! All of my flowers in the yard are starting to bloom and even the daylilies that I transplanted managed to bloom too!! Woo Hoo!!! My mom's daylilies that she gave me also bloomed by the house, but the others down by the pool area got ate up by the deer! Ughhhhh... Lillie graduated from Pre-K and will be going into Kindergarden in the Fall! I can't believe how fast this school year has gone! On the 22nd, Lillie celebrated her 5th b-day and had some friends over at our house for party. I made my first major themed cake, Tangled. The heat is really getting bad and no rain this year. I think we're going to have a really rough summer this year.

July
On the 4th, we celebrated the holiday at a friends' pool party and had a cookout! We had a good time and was so happy to be with friends. I had our friend a "NON" birthday cake, made 2 couch purse cakes for her, which everyone loved!! Then we took off and went to Florida for 6 days and had a wonderful time with my Aunt Pearl and Uncle Rich on the beaches! I've never been to florida before so this was a major treat for all 3 of us. And we took Bobby's Aunt Nellie and Uncle Bill down to Pensacola and dropped them off and picked them back up on our way home. They are getting old to drive that far and we had room in our car to take them. It was really nice to take them along with us and had a great time in Florida too! When we got back home from Florida I had another cake to make, I made a sheet cake 1/2 Chocolate & 1/2 White cake, with vanilla pudding filling and Buttercream Icing, for Alex's 8th birthday it was Army themed! :) Everyone has been telling me that I need to just open a cake shop. LOL. It's been really really hot this summer and no rain is making everything die. I wonder how bad it's going to get before we get some much needed rain! We're breaking all kinds of record heat records and they say that August will be worse...

So now you can see what I've been up to this summer and in between all of that I've been trying to design and no time to do much at all. LOL. But I am working on a bunch of hand drawn elements for a new kit and have an idea for another one, so you will have to be sure to come back soon and see what I've made! :) What have you been up this summer? Did you go on vacation to a new place? Maybe for a change you decided to stay home and do something close to home! I'd love to hear what you've been doing...

Boo Boos and Bandaids at FOFDS!!

Good Morning Everyone,
I decided that since my daughter, Lillie had surgery to remove her adenoids and have tubes put in her ears, this has given me a chance to use my own kit, Boo boos and Bandaids! Here's my layout I made using my kit:

I had every intention of taking lots of photos, but we had some issues with her breathing when she came out of surgery, so there's only pre-op photos. It was a very long and emotional morning, with a 1hr and 15 min drive each way to boot. Lillie is doing so much better now and fully recovered from her surgery, so no worries. :)

You can imagine the stress/worry we felt this day. But to know that all of this was just going to make her hear better and feel amazing again, it was worth it. That afternoon, you couldn't even tell she was recovering from surgery! She refused to sit still and rest, she was trying so hard to act like nothing happened to her. Bless her heart! The first thing she told me later that afternoon was Mommy I can hear you so much better now. Awwwww!

Do you use doodles?

Hello Everyone,

We were wondering, do you use doodles in your scrapbook page? How do you use them? What's your favorite technique to use doodles?

Although, I'm not an Art Student, I recently bought a wacom bamboo craft and have been doodling up a storm, learning to control the pen and controling the strokes. It's been a fun experience and would like to create some doodles that you'd like to use...

Dec 2010 Project 12 LO's and sharing a freebie...

Have you started your Dec 2010 Project 12 Layouts? I've had mine pretty much finished, just needed a quiet moment to do the journaling on them...

Both of my Project 12 LO's are created using my Holiday Fever kit which can be found in my store at FOFDS! The font used is Sageo Script.

Journaling reads:

December was a busy, busy month! We had so much fun this month...

We took Lillie to see Santa at Bass Pro Shop w/neighbors Terry & Judy’s family. Went to Azle’s Annual Christmas Parade with them also. We celebrated Bobby’s 51st Birthday, Lillie and I made these cool Christmas Trees as a craft project together. And Lillie had her Class Christmas Party/Lunch. It was great to see her in the class and watch her interacting with the other kids. It was a great time to meet the other kids and their parents too.

A photo of our fireplace mantel full of our freinds and families christmas cards. Our 1st fire in the fireplace this year. Lillie on Christmas morning thrilled to see what Santa had brought her this year!! David opening his present from us, dum bells! And this is the first New Year’s Eve we’ve actually done something besides staying home and going to bed. LOL. David and Tarrah celebrated with us, as Lillie was pouting and didn’t want her photo taken! Gotcha!! Tarrah tried to cheer her up and get her in a better mood. I even made her

a special drink (Pink Lemonade Koolaid) in a real glass so she wouldn’t feel left out. Over the last few weeks she’s really been clingie and wanting to be involved in all we do! She’s getting a little better about excepting she can’t always do everything, but still doesn’t like it...

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Years and to remind you all to be safe, Don't Drink & Drive!!! We'll be staying home with Lillie and watching the Ball drop in NYC on TV. That way Lillie can have fun and we're all at home and safe! I hope to see you all in the New Year! Here's to 2011!!!

I've been so busy that I've put my own scrapping off to the side until this month. Now I'm playing catch up and have been working to get my Project 12 Challenge LO's caught up too. Here's the past 5 months except for Decembers' LO of 2010:

July was recovery from a one week road trip and getting things back into order around the house and yard. It was also the growing season for all of the lawn we have, so spent 2-3 days a week mowing, weed eatting and watering it all. LOL. It was quite warm, but not blistering this year, so we managed to get a lot of clean up done. We tore down the old shed that was in the backyard, it was in poor shape and we didn't use it anyway. Then spent most of the month digging up tree roots, pressure washing the concrete to make it clean and pretty for a sitting area by the swimming pool. We even built a retaining wall around the tree in the front yard and hopes of planting some flowers there. We trimmed the lower branches off the tree and can't believe the difference it made. I started my diet to lose 48 lbs this month too.

August was another busy, hot month for us, as most summer months are around here. I made 2 birthday cakes for Abigail's B-day, we had lots of Hummingbirds this year and it reminded me of living at my G-ma's house in CA. We had lots hummingbirds there. Lillie finally started public school, Pre-K. She loves it and it's a welcoming break for me also. Bobby bought me a brand new computer that upgrades to 16GBs of memory!! It's awesome and love it. Lillie pulled another one of her quiet adventures and decided that she was going to play in my perfumes, came out smelling like a French you know what. LOL. Ughhhh! Our cousin, Jennifer had her 4th baby, Chandler!! She's the sweetest thing ever. And of course, Lillie finally got that Pillow Pet she's been asking for!

Septemeber was a welcoming break from the heat. Hummingbirds are still buzzing around and fighting over the necter from the feeder. The front yard is looking awesome!! Lillie was enjoying the summer breeze in the shade, on the tarps. We took the swimming pool down early as we had there was a lot of tropical storms coming our way. If and when they make it up to Hurricanes we get a huge amount of rain which turns the pool to yuck anyways. We got the rain from Hurricane Hermine, which was a huge relieve from the heat and welcoming rain. I pressure washed my leg, trying not to slip on the hill in wet grass. Ughhh. The flowers and plants are all growing nicely and now it's time to start cleaning up weeds again. My red rose out front is getting ready for 2nd blooming season.

October was a fairly quiet month, without much going on. Lillie was invited to her 1st classmate's b-day party which was a halloween themed party. She was so excited. She also had 1st Class Photos taken, and was such a good girl for picture day! Also they had a pumpkin project in class, which we took her to the pumpkin patch for the 1st time to pick out a pumpkin for her project. She loved the patch and getting to pick out a tiny pumpkin to take home too. We'll be going back there again! Nice and friendly place. Then on Halloween we went to the church Fall Festival and went on a hay ride, played games and then we took her trick or treaking around the neighborhood on the way home. She got so much candy that her pale handle broke! LOL.

November was a very busy month!! We had a weekend trip to Austin to see some of Bobby's friends from school in Anson. We all met up at Suzanne & John's house. On the way to Austin, we stopped at Georgetown, TX to see Inner Space Caverns! Lillie loved it and we took lots of photos of the caverns and even saw a few of the Cavern Bats. Awesome place to see if you like that kind of adventure. Then we moved on to Austin and went by the State Capital Building. We went with a mission to find our SIL's father and siblings photos on the wall. After asking a few of the employees, we managed to find them all on the basement floor level on the wall. I took some photos of them for my SIL and really enjoyed seeing the history of the building and grounds.

Lillie loved having her photos taken in front of many statues around the grounds, including the statues that are dedicated to the school children of the Texas Schools! They are so cute, there's several statues of school age children playing in the grassy courtyard.

And finally here's some more photos of the trip. We stayed the night in Austin and the next morning, we went by the UT Campas to take some photos. We are Texas Longhorn Fans so we had to do it! LOL. I found some neat statues in a courtyard, and I made Bobby stop long enough for me to jump out and take some photos of them and then we had to get on the road to come back home. So I didn't get to investage what the statues were there in memory/honor of but I'll be sure to find out. All of the entry doors on the stateum doors have this huge seal on them, thought it was cool. LOL. And this stateum is HUGE!!! I knew it was big, but never thought it was that big!! Amazing site to see. :)

Well now that I bored you with my LO's of the past 5 months, here's something for you to think about... I did these layouts as a way of preserving our family memories of every month. I don't have the patience or the time to do the daily challenge, 365 project, and I saw this challenge called Project 12 in a magazine, so I thought it was amazing and what a wonderful way to help us all preserve our memories! So I re-did the challenge to make it easier for all levels of experience paper and digital scrappers to join in the challenge. I hosted it from January - November 2010 at Deco-Pages.com, until the site closed and then I moved it to my blog until I was able to find a more permenment home for my challenge. Trimming Trees and all...

Hello Everyone,

It's been a busy month already for me. I was finally able to sit down long enough to get the photos off my camera from my attempt to do Scrapbooks Ect's Trim The Tree art and craft project!

So here's a photo of the tree we did our own twist on. This was our (Lillie and I's) first attempt at doing a craft project together where she had to be patient and work with me rather then having it all prepped and ready to put together. LOL.

I remembered really quick why I always have everything all prepped and ready for her to go to town on craft projects! She doesn't have patience to sit, wait until things are ready and has to touch everything! LOL. SO lesson learned on this project, and I'll remember to make sure that I do it ahead of time. LOL.

This is a plain jane tree and no decor on it. Like I said it's the first attempt to do it and I was having to stop and take photos at every step. Why you might be asking? Because I ventured out on my own and decided that I'd try it with some supplies that surely we all have just laying around the house. :) When I get a little more time to work on putting the project together and set up the tutorial for you, I'll post it here on my blog! :)

Next up we had our town Annual Christmas Parade in downtown on Dec 4th. It was the first time we decided to go and we took our neighbors with us, they have a daughter who's in the Dazzlers and was in the parade. :) We had a great time even though we froze to death! LOL. Oh well next time we'll be sure to take lots of chairs and blankets for everyone to sit in. Here's a few of the photos from the Azle Christmas Parade...

Azle only has about 10,950 residents! That's why it's such a small parade. We love our small town life. :)

And finally here's a photo of our Christmas tree in our house this year. We moved it to the dining room corner this year. We normally have it next to the fireplace corner of living room, but we didn't want to rearrange the house to do it. So I decided to put the tree in the dining room and it looks so good there in the corner of the room, by the sliding glass door. :)

I still need to wrap all of the presents for Lillie and get them under the tree. But I'm not looking forward to fighting to keep her from unwrapping them. LOL. So I think I'll wait another week before I put them under the tree. I'll take some better pics of the tree when I get a chance. :)

Well I can't forget it was my boyfriend's b-day on Dec 5th, so here's a photo of him and Lillie with the chocolate cake I made him... :) Lillie had just got out of the bathtub minutes before this photo was taken but she wasn't going to wait to sing happy birthday to her Daddy!

Hello and Welcome to Project 12 Challenge!!

Thank you so much for joining us in this wonderful journey throughout 2010! I’d like to take a moment to invite all of you to join in this challenge, meet new friends and have FUN!! Please remember that you can join in the challenge at anytime, as you are always encouraged to preserve your memories today for generations to come. Let me start out with the basics of this challenge.

What is Project 12?
Project 12 is a 12 month challenge, designed to help you preserve your memories from an entire year. Just like Project 365, you will take pictures and place them on a layout and journal memories of what took place. But wait before you say that you can’t do this challenge or that you tried Project 365 but couldn’t stay with it, this one is easier!! Project 12 is only one layout a month, rather then weekly! You will take pictures throughout the month; at the end of the month you will complete the layout with journaling and Month & year.

Can I do previous years instead of 2010?
Sure why not, that’s a great idea too. The more we preserve for the future generations the more they will know about who we are and what we enjoyed in life.

What do I need to participate in this challenge?
Well you need a camera, pictures of events for each month, a program to make your digital scrapbook layouts in (Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, PSP, Scrapbook MAX and many others), an album to place your layouts in as you finish them (or at the end of year), scrapbooking kits to use to make your layouts, and finally the encouragement and support to finish your album. I’ll be here to help keep you going on this challenge.

Can paper scrappers do this challenge too?
Sure you can!! You know what you will need to make your layouts (adhesives, papers, tags, brads, ribbons, ect.). You are welcome to take a picture of your finished pages and post them on your blog, leave a comment on my blog with a link to your post for me to see. I’d love to see them!

I’m new to scrapbooking, can I join in this challenge?
This challenge is kept simple enough for all levels of experience! It’s important that if you have a question to ask it, so I’m able to help you. You can email me or leave a comment on my blog with your questions. Questions are always welcome and my motto is the only stupid question is one that’s not asked! So don’t be afraid to ask them. We are all here to support each other, no matter what level of experience we have.

What if I don’t have a printer to print out my layouts?
Well there are lots of great stores/sites out there that can help you with it. It’s up to you if you want to use some thing online or go in person. I know that you can use the photo labs in several stores like Walmart, Wal-greens, CVS just to name a few. I personally have not used any of them. I always use my personal printer. A few of the online sites are Shutterfly, Snapfish, and SmugMug.

Can I use templates? Or do I have to use templates?
Yes you can use anything that you want to make your layouts, please just remember to credit the designers! Kit/template name and Designer Name. No you don’t have to use templates, you are welcome to make your layouts any size, shape or color you want to! It’s your album, you make it your way! You can make one or two page layouts for each month or mix it up!

Wow, it's been over a month? LOL.

Hello Everyone,
I'm back again! LOL. It's been a very long month and hopefully soon things will calm down for me. There's so much that going to be changing, but I can't tell you what it is and what's going to come out of it just yet! My lips are sealed! Sorry everyone. LOL. But just as soon as I'm able to tell you I'll share it with you.

So what have I been doing this last month? Well a lot... both in the real world and also in scrapland ( the world of scrapbooking). During the month of May, I was busy preparing for a one week road trip to California to see my sister who I haven't seen in like 12 yrs! Then I went on to Reno, NV to see my oldest son who I haven't seen in 10 yrs. It was really an emotional roller coaster and I have shared most of that in a previous post here on my blog. :) Since May there has been a lot of personal drama in my life, and without going into too much details, we've been forced to remove the drama for our family's sake! As a result in that, my family has been on the mend and we're trying to learn from our mistakes and get things back to good and just in time for the Holidays! :-) It's come time that we start working on making our family all that we can be and to bring the happiness back into our lives!

In the scrapbooking world, I've been trying to hard to catch up on my designing responsibilities since May, when I unofficially took a month off from designing. Then I was a whole lot of hit and miss during June due to our road trip and a family members wedding, oh yeah and the family reunion! So Basicially I was gone for 2 months and had major catching up to do. In that process I had not only my club deco kits, challenge posting prizes to do, but I also had my Project 12 layouts to create for those months and up to present time. Plus I do lots of "behind the scenes" work at Deco-Pages. So I had a ton of things to do and I can officially say that I have caught up now! :) FINALLY!!! Woo Hoo!!

And get this... I will be having some extra special things coming your way very soon!! So be sure to keep an eye open for that too! You don't want to miss out!! Trust me!! (hint: there's a treat for you, but you have to wait just a lil longer to find out what!)

Yikes, What Happened To Me?!?

Hello Everyone,
Yikes, I can't believe I haven't posted something sooner!! LOL. My bad!! Ok so if you don't see me on Facebook, then you have no idea what and where I've been!! I must say some has been life changing and some were just awesome events in my life. To say the least!!

So what in the world am I talking about? Well short version...
The end of February my oldest son, Scotty made contact with me and we've been working on our relationship, which included me being invited to his High School Graduation!! Can you believe that, he GRADUATED!! Wow I really feel old now to say that I have a son that graduated from High School, LOL. Although I'm still young, I had him at a very young age of 17 yrs old! There's some awesome pics of our reunion after 11 yrs of being apart. That is one of the greatest days of my life other then giving birth to my children. I have 3 of them and they all mean the world to me! :)

Anyways... so I had to get busy painting to save money for our trip to Reno, NV to make it to his graduation. Although I didn't know until late April that I was invited. :) So I had to bust a move and long story short we made it a road trip in June, to see my hometowns from my childhood and a few family members and friends.

We left Azle, TX and drove the first day to Flagstaff, AZ. That was the longest one day drive of our trip, which is 14 hrs going there. I won't even talk about the hotel we stayed in, LOL. Thankfully it was only for a few hours of sleep and then we hit the road again. From Flagstaff, AZ we drove to Napa, CA where we stayed 2 nights with my sister who I hadn't seen in 12 yrs!! I also got to see my oldest niece, Rochelle, who just had her first baby, my great-niece, Ayanna in Feb. While we were there, we drove out the Sonoma Coast line and took a ton of pics, and spent time with my sister. The next day was the hardest one as it was more about facing my childhood towns/memories. This was a very, very hard and emotional journey in my life and changed the way I see things in many ways. One of the houses I spent almost 13 yrs of my childhood in, I have not seen in 21 years!!! I had NO idea what to except to see when we got there and I was completely overwhelmed and devastated to say the least. Nothing was at all as it was in my memories!! The acres of land that me and so many of my childhood friends used to play in is now sadly homes, the roads are definitely not as wide as they seemed either. Too many changes and I can't say they were for the better. :( My grandmother's house is the same way, been at least 10 yrs since I've been there after she died the house was sold. Even that street/neighborhood has changed so much that it really hit me hard! I couldn't believe it!! After seeing this we were headed back on the road to Reno, NV to see my son for the first time in 11 yrs!!! I was excited, nervous and a wreck to say the least! LOL. We got there and checked into the hotel and got some rest, the following day was his graduation and our first meet. I think it went better then I thought it was going to and I'm so thankful every day that God has brought us back together again! We spent 3 nights there in Reno, NV. We drove over to Lake Tahoe to spend a few hours and then we had to say our goodbyes as we were headed out at 4am to head for FLagstaff, AZ. We got there and had a much better hotel and I'd definitely stay again in this one!! LOL. We got some sleep and headed out again at 5am for home, well okay that was the plan until we hit the highway! LOL. Bobby asked if we wanted to go see the Grand Canyon really quick while we were there and then head home. So of course we all said yes! After driving for 1 1/2 hrs we made it to the First Look-Out area at 6:30am and can you say brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Here we are all dressed in shorts and tank tops for the drive home and guess what?? IT'S ONLY 49 DEGREES!!! OMG I thought I was going to die!! We went out to the lookout area took as many pics as I could and then we headed back to the car. One the way back to the car, we saw some Mule Deer crossing the path in front of us. All I can say is wow, they actually stood there and let me get some pics before they ran off. Then we hit the car and had another 16 hr drive in front us to get home. Ugh!!! That was the longest drive of my life. We were getting so tired, cranky kids and just being ready to be home already. So we finally get about 40 miles from our house, Bobby and I were driving about an hr each at a time and Lillie gets sick in the backseat!! OMG not in the new HHR!!! Oh yeah she throws up all over the seat and yourself, so I put Kailyn in the front seat so I can help Lillie when she does get sick again. I was praying it was just motion sickness but heck no, we get home and the next 3 days she's sick and I'm trying to keep us from getting it too. Needless to say it didn't slow down from there for us...

We had Father's Day, Lillie's b-day on the 22nd, Family wedding on the 26th, and the 27th Lillie's party at our house. Whew, are you as tired and wore out as we are??? LOL. Then we had July 4th BBQ, Kailyn started her Volleyball Camp on Monday and Lillie had a Dr Appt too on Monday.

Somewhere in the middle of all of this from the road trip to this last weekend I was able to finally finish a kit I had started in May!! LOL. Busy, busy!! Oh yeah if you'd like to see my pics from our trip, you can add me on Facebook and I'll accept your friends invite. :) I haven't even had a chance to do my scrapbooking pages of the trip or anything, but most of the pics are there on Facebook...
Well I hope to keep you all updated with my sales and new releases better then I have in the past. But as you can see some times we must take a break and enjoy life!!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted but I've been so busy!! First of all I'll share my layouts for the February Project 12 Challenge at Deco-Pages:

I've chosen to use 2 pager Layouts for my album, but you can use whatever size you'd like to. The February 2010 date plates are free to anyone that would like to use them. For the details of the Project 12 Challenge, you can find it in this FORUM!

I also had a short period of down time for working on layouts but I was able to work on the Template Challenge at Deco-Pages this month!! Here's the layout that I created, using my SAS train kit called, Blissful Heart! Which is in my store right now! I also used my February ABC Challenge alpha for the title! I think they work well together, don't you?

Intro to a New Challenge at Deco-Pages.com

Hello and Welcome to Project 12 for 2010!!
Thank you so much for joining us in this wonderful journey throughout2010! I’m Jennifer Rassi, a designer at Deco-Pages.com. I’d like totake a moment to invite all of you to join in this challenge, meet newfriends and have FUN!! Please remember that you can join in thechallenge at anytime, as you are always encouraged to preserve yourmemories today for generations to come. Here at Deco-Pages.com ourmotto is to “Let us help you to always remember!”

Let me start out with the basics of this challenge and work our way to January’s Challenge.

What is Project 12?
Project 12 is a 12 month challenge, designed to help you preserve yourmemories from an entire year. Just like Project 365, you will takepictures and place them on a layout and journal memories of what tookplace. But wait before you say that you can’t do this challenge or that you tried Project 365 but couldn’t stay with it, this one is easier!!Project 12 is only one layout a month, rather then weekly! You willtake pictures throughout the month; at the end of the month you willcomplete the layout with journaling and Month & year.

Can I do previous years instead of 2010?
Sure why not, that’s a great idea too. The more we preserve for thefuture generations the more they will know about who we are and what weenjoyed in life.

What do I need to participate in this challenge?
Well you need a camera, pictures of events for each month, a program tomake your digital scrapbook layouts in (Photoshop, Photoshop Elements,PSP and many others), an album to place your layouts in as you finishthem (or at the end of year), scrapbooking kits to use to make yourlayouts, and finally the encouragement and support to finish youralbum. I’ll be here to help keep you going on this challenge.

Can paper scrappers do this challenge too?
Sure you can!! You know what you will need to make your layouts(adhesives, papers, tags, brads, ribbons, ect.) and you are welcome totake a picture of your finished pages and post them in the gallery toofor everyone to see. I’d love to see them!

I’m new to scrapbooking, can I join in this challenge?
This challenge is kept simple enough for all levels of experience! It’simportant that if you have a question to ask it, so I’m able to helpyou. You can either send me a private message here on the site (Angels Digi Scraps)or you can post the question in the forum. Questions are always welcomeand my motto is the only stupid question is one that’s not asked! Sodon’t be afraid to ask them. We are all here to support each other, nomatter what level of experience we have.

What if I don’t have a printer to print out my layouts?
Well there are lots of great stores/sites out there that can help youwith it. It’s up to you if you want to use some thing online or go inperson. I know that you can use the photo labs in several stores likeWalmart, Wal-greens, CVS just to name a few. I personally have not usedany of them. I always use my personal printer. A few of the onlinesites are Shutterfly, Snapfish, and SmugMug.

Can I use templates? Or do I have to use templates?
Yes you can use anything that you want to make your layouts, please just remember to credit the designers! Kit/template name and Designer Name only please!!!No you don’t have to use templates, you are welcome to make you layoutsany size, shape or color you want to! It’s your album, you make it yourway! You can make one or two page layouts for each month or mix it up!

There's been so much going on these days... Lillie has started a Mother's Day Out group (it's like preschool) and she loves it!! I was outside doing yardwork one morning and Lillie asked me for her "draw-draw" which is similar to the mega-doodle sketch pad. She was having such a wonderful time sitting there on the front entry drawing circles. Hee hee. I got my camera and stepped back and asked her to show me what she was drawing and snapped these adorable pics. :) Just had to share with you all.

Can you believe it is July already? I can't believe it, until I step outside and melt in the heat! LOL. It's been in 100+ for over a week now here and finally had some upper 80's yesterday! What a relief!! I hope everyone had a safe and Happy 4th of July! Let's get this ball rolling...

July ABC Challenge:
I decided that since I haven't tried to do a patriotic alpha set yet, that I'd do one for July's challenge! It came out pretty cute and everyone is loving it at Deco-Pages.com! :)

Attention PSE 4.0 Users!!

Hello Everyone,
If you know me or have been keeping up with my blog, you all know that I've been searching for actions that will work in PSE 4.0. Well I came across a really nice lady one night while on my search for something new. Her name is Scrappy Shannon, and she sells at Pretty Scrappy. If you haven't checked out her products, you should. I just finished testing 2 actions for her in PSE 4.0! And guess what? They work!! Woo Hoo!! We worked together to figure out how to get them to work and after a couple hours, I was able to get it all working correctly. So if you are looking to buy some actions, here's the 2 that I am completely pleased with and thankful to have!!

First one is Quality Control Action, as a designer you know how important it is to have stray-free elements and also those pesty drop shadows that take hours of painful eye strain to remove. Well this action will show it all to you and takes minutes verses hours or even days to remove all of the strays and shadows for you. Best of all it works in PSE 4.0! Right now it's on sale at a great bargain!! You don't want to go without this action any longer.

And finally I've been just waiting and wanting this one... It's an alpha template maker and cutting action!! Anyone who has made an alpha before, knows how much of a pain it is to cut out each letter, number and symbol from the sheet and save each one to a folder and name them. Are you ready for this?? This action lets you create your alpha (even lets you change the font) and then cuts out each letter (upper and lower case), numbers and symbols, saves each one to separate folders. As you all know I host the ABC Challenge at Deco-Pages.com, so this is the perfect action for me and I love it!! I've already made June's alpha sets and will be working on more soon. This has cut the time I spend on making an alpha set from start to finish, down by close to 80%!! I'm not kidding you. Yes you still need to rename the files, as you want your designer name on each of them, but to me that's nothing compared to the time wasted on doing it all yourself!! Right now, Scrappy Shannon has this action on sale too. Sales are good! LOL.

I love May as it's Mother's Day and Spring is in full force now. Also means that the Summer Heat is coming too. LOL. Oh happy days. I have so much to share with you all today as it's the 1st of the month and that means lots to talk about in the digital scrapbooking world... so lets get started.

May ABC Challenge:
I've created a fun alpha to play with this month, here's a preview of the challenge alpha:
I was looking through my Better Homes and Gardens Magazine and I came across these colors and a floral pattern that I just loved. I knew when I saw them that I was going to be using them for my May ABC Challenge. I just love them! If you told me that these colors would work great together without me seeing them together, I would of laughed at you. But it was destiny at first sight... They are so airy, bright and cheerful! I hope you like them as much as I do. :)

I can't believe how fast the girls are growing up. And sadly it's not just Michaele's girls, Lillie is growing up so incredibly fast. Along with the kids growing up, that means we're growing older too. Ugh! LOL.

I just love how she used the chicken wire cluster element as an overlay instead of as a matte to place the photo on. And the colors of Spring Bliss are perfect for those Easter pics!

I was trying to post this a few days ago, but I was trying to get some last minute things finished in my newest kit. I'll tell you about my new release in just a second. But first I wanted to share with you this:

Also, as I promised in a previous post, I'd be back to share my template challenge LO from Michaele's Template Challenge over at Deco-Pages.com. Here's the LO I have created using her template! I just love using her templates!! Thanks again for another great template, Michaele. I made a great Easter page using her template, my April ABC Challenge alpha set and my new release, Spring Bliss!
The bottom middle and right pics were taken the night before, while we colored eggs. The bottom left and the top 2 pics are from Easter Morning! (Well, we had to celebrate Easter on Saturday, so it was a day early! We decided that it was better to do it a day early then to not be able to have it due to Thunderstorms on Easter Morning.) Our family all gets together at the city park for a BBQ and Egg hunt for the kids. It's always a huge crowd and lots of kids! :)
You can find this LO in my gallery, which by the way was chosen for LOTD for Monday April 13th, 2009!!! Woo Hoo!! How awesome is that!

I always loved the bright colors that Easter brings, so with that love for them, I made this new kit, Spring Bliss.

This is my DD and her 2nd cousin, Abigail, who are 7 weeks to the day apart, Lillie is older. Last year we started a family tradition with them having their pic taken in this car. And this year they both climbed in the car together and had a blast. I was able to snap this shot of them together. Sweet memories that will last forever, thanks to digital scrapbooking. :)

April Already??

Can you believe it's officially April now? Where are these months going? It's amazing that time is flying by so quickly. I can remember being a small child and I used to hate that school would let out, and before we knew it summer was over and time to go back again. My mom used to tell me that time flies when you're having fun, and wait until your older and time really flies then! I hear those words ring in my ears every day as I turn around and the day is gone again. LOL. I keep thinking, why did she have to tell me that? Maybe if she hadn't, time would be dragging by? Probably not, but hey I can wish right? :) I have a lot of things to share with you today so I better get started...

April ABC Challenge
Have you seen what I've been doing with the ABC Challenge at Deco-Pages? I got tired of the old challenge, same ol' same ol', so I changed it up some. I make a lowercase and uppercase alpha each month. You get the lowercase to use in the challenge, and the uppercase (which is more fancy) is the posting prize. You have a required amount of elements to use in your LO and must use my alpha in your LO somewhere. That's it! For the complete details and list of required elements you can find it in the ABC Challenge Thread for April!
Here's the previews for the challenge letters and also the posting prize letters. I really like how these came out and it was nice to have some bright cheery letters this month to use. I haven't finished my LO yet, so I'll be posting that soon. I hope that you will come and join me this month for the challenge and enjoy the alpha!

Club Deco
This month was really a challenge for me as I'm a SAHM and wasn't sure I was going to be able to work with the theme of this month. The name is Working For A Living and all of us designers were able to pull together some awesome kits for this one. I did a SAHM theme, basically house cleaning! LOL. You have got to see the wordart quotes that I used! LOL. I was just cracking up reading some of them and these where the ones I went with. Do you see that vaccum? I drew it up and named it the Rassi Cleaner! LOL. I can be so dingie some times! ROTF. I really do like how it came out though. :) I also made 2 QP's from this kit, will share those when I share my ABC Challenge LO! :)

Red Shouldered Hawks LO

Hello Everyone,
You are probably going to think I've lost it, as there's not many at my age that care about wildlife with a passion. I have since I was a little girl, and this is no exception for me. We have Red Shouldered Hawks nesting in the woodlands behind our house. These birds are beautiful and I have finally been able to have a close enough encounter with them that I could snap these amazing pics which I used in this LO: Please see credits for this LO HERE.
There's at least 6 hawks that are nesting behind our house that I've been able to see. They're in the peak of their mating season, which is why they're so actively flying around. These hawks sound so similar to a Bald Eagle cry, that they use their cry in the movies where you see and hear Bald Eagles flying. I thought that was pretty neat.

If you are old enough to know, we used to use a chemical called DDT, before we realized that it was causing so many effects on the wildlife, including but not limited to the birds egg shells were so soft, that when they'd try to warm the eggs it would break the shell and the eggs would die. That DDT chemical is responsible for so many wildlife Endangered Species and probably even the Extincted too. It's so sad, but at least we found out and stopped using it before it was too late to save so many species. The Bald Eagle, and lots of other Eagles and Hawks were almost killed off completely before we were able to help bring them back. What does any of this really have to do with Scrapbooking, you may ask? Well isn't the reason we scrapbook is to preserve memories? I think that scrapbooking about wildlife is preserving important information about wildlife that some day may not ever be here if we stop caring about preserving. And how many of you actually seen or will get to see a Red Shouldered Hawk in person? Without my photos or this layout, many of you may never have gotten to see this Hawk. See what I mean, I'm helping you to always remember! And that's just what our moto is at Deco-Pages.com! " Let us help you to always remember " that's what I love so much about being apart of Deco-Pages. We are dedicated to helping you all preserve memories and your life for generations to come.

This just goes to show you that when you are scrapbooking whether it's digitally, paper or even hybrid, that you can scrapbook about anything and everything. What's your passion? What do you want your grand kids, great grand kids and others to remember about these days we are living right now? How are you expressing who you are and your passions about your life? When your great kids look at your scrapbooks, are they going to get a feeling of who you are/were just by reading your scrapbooks? Ask yourself these questions the next time you make that layout and see what direction it takes you...
